What is an Office Fitout?

Here at NXGI, we describe an office fit out as any renovation works directly related to creating an office space that is fit for purpose.

The goal here is to take a space and ensure that you and your staff have a great place to work in.  Fitouts can vary from a blank canvas where we are brought in to build walls, floors and ceilings or they can be just adding in the final touches such as furniture and the interior design component.

Let’s break that down a little further and split a fit out into 3 steps from start to finish:

  1. The basic structure of the building is complete and it’s ready for adding partitions, plumbing and electrical works
  2. Next you complete electrical, mechanical and plumbing works, install suspended ceilings, toilets, air con units and more
  3. Lastly, the stylistic elements are installed such as furniture (reception desks, chairs) and other furnishings.

What is an Office Refurbishment?

An office refurbishment is often needed when the space is already in use and the space just needs a proverbial, fresh coat of paint.  It needs to be redesigned and revitalised to have a new look and feel.  The business might have grown or just their needs have changed.

Rather than a full fit out which requires a larger budget, a refurbishment can be as simple as adding some new furniture, fresh paint, new fixtures and not much more.  Very quickly, you can have a new feeling office on a cheaper budget.

Refurbishments often refer to stripping back and changing up the office space that has already been fitted out in the past. It doesn’t involve preparing the basic structure of the building as it has already been done during the fitout phase.
